Not an unusual case unfortunately. Michele Morrow, who ran unsuccessfully for Wake County school board and subsequently for state superintendent of education here in NC, was one of many antimaskers and Covid vaccine “skeptics” amongst those who were pushing for local schools to restart in-person learning in 2020. She would often add “as a nurse” or even “as a school nurse” to her statements. She holds a permanent RN license but as far as people could establish she hadn’t been employed as a nurse in a long time due to her homeschooling her own kids. She was registered as a school nurse too but IIRC the only school linked to her school nurse registration was the homeschool she had registered/set up for her family. This didn’t stop her from making outlandish statements about “things she had witnessed at local schools” (that her kids didn’t attend) or the ill effects of requiring students to wear masks when schools first reopened for in-person learning that “she had personally witnessed as a school nurse”, even though she was homeschooling her kids full time, would never state which public or private school she supposedly worked at and nobody was able to independently find her registered as a school nurse (only her general RN license) or find her anywhere listed as a school nurse through the school district or even by asking local parents if she was the nurse at their school. I don’t know if she’s still active with M4L or if they distanced themselves from her after her often very outlandish statements on various topics including but not limited to “special ed students taking away resources from general ed students even though they’d likely never achieve much academically”.
