No, no, NO! If I had seen more positive depictions of LGBTQ+ media in my youth, I would have come out to myself at a far younger age than 19, which I suppose isn't late but feels late to me. But since I got no positive messaging about, or representations of, LGBTQ+ people until I came out and started spending time with other LGBTQ+ folks, I didn't let myself admit my queerness until I was 19 despite always knowing. Representation is neither legislation not abolition (the ultimate goal), but it does matter.

I knew I was trans when I was 12. I had never met a trans person before, I only knew trans people existed because I saw an article on the AOL home page sensationalizing a pregnant trans man. No one “pushed an ideology” on me. I was not able to transition socially or medically until adulthood, and you know what happened because of that? Suicide attempts. More than I can count. Since I started hormones several years ago and my loved ones started respecting my gender identity? I haven’t attempted once. Just food for thought.
Yeah well that’s YOU and yeah I’m very sorry that you went through that, and ofc you didn’t have the ideology pushed on you and you were trans on your own, but I’m just talking about NOWadays, and I have firsthand experience of this because they taught us the gender stuff in high school and even went as far to say that there are like 9 genders or more, and I called cap on that because I knew there were only 2. So it wasn’t just trans stuff, it was literally making up stuff that makes no sense and doesn’t exist. Like it’s one thing to change your gender to the other one like that’s fine if that’s what you’d like to do and it works for you, but this grown woman came and lectured us 14 year olds on literally creating stuff that makes no sense at all and has no basis in reality and tried to force us to believe it and I had to like make sure not to fall for it especially at that young impressionable age and my parents were NOT happy with the school when they found out about it. Well a LOT of parents weren’t and with a good reason too.
As for minors being able to transition, the risks are that the side effects can be worse, and also there are some girls that think they’re FTM trans because they’re confused in puberty, but they end up growing up and being fine with being women, so if they get caught up in the trans stuff, they might take testosterone and regret it later
Obviously you’re not one of them and you’re legit trans, but I’m just saying that there is that risk
Also, I would say that if any child godforbid unfortunately wants to do something that could result in serious injury or possibly being not alive anymore, the best thing to do is to go to therapy or a psychiatrist, address the root cause of the issue, the depression, potential trauma, etc, and then if those are all ruled out and taken care of and you simply just are trans and have gender dysphoria and you’re unable to overcome it by being able to live into alignment fulfillingly with the way that you were born and you’re legit trans fr and it’s the only option left, then, once you’re ready and old enough, which you should be by then, you can transition, and you wouldn’t want to end it anyways if you go through the treatment for that and depression
So like if you received the proper psychological help and support, you could’ve gone through your teen years being able to live and stay alive and well without attempting even Pre-T. That’s all I’m trying to get at here I definitely do NOT want kids to end their lives that’s horrible.
I just see the more methodical approach to it rather than just simply going on hormones especially when you’re already mentally unstable and it’s possible that SOME people going through that have underlying issues that may be causing those thoughts, and I have seen cases of it before
Oh and also there was a gay boy that was feminine and the doctors thought he was trans and said he would want ro end it if he didn’t go on the hormones, but the hormones actually made it worse for him, so it’s also a problem when doctors use examples like what you went through to try and fear monger kids that aren’t actually trans into it, and obviously they don’t all do that, but I’m saying like some of them do. Oh and the LGBTQ hotline hung up on him btw when he said he didn’t like the hormones

In fact, they misdiagnosed me and gave me medicine that harmed me in the long run (I am pro medication, but they were very reckless and gave me a kind I didn’t need, which had permanent side effects even after I stopped it). I WISH that being in therapy or seeing a psychiatrist was all it takes to stop children in acute distress from attempting suicide, but you are sadly mistaken, it is not a magical cure-all. All I am saying is that if a child is authentically experiencing gender dysphoria, and if they are describing that, BELIEVE THEM. Transition has been shown time and time again to be the best way to ease the distress of gender dysphoria.

I knew I was trans when I was 12. I had never met a trans person before, I only knew trans people existed because I saw an article on the AOL home page sensationalizing a pregnant trans man. No one “pushed an ideology” on me. I was not able to transition socially or medically until adulthood, and you know what happened because of that? Suicide attempts. More than I can count. Since I started hormones several years ago and my loved ones started respecting my gender identity? I haven’t attempted once. Just food for thought.
Yeah well that’s YOU and yeah I’m very sorry that you went through that, and ofc you didn’t have the ideology pushed on you and you were trans on your own, but I’m just talking about NOWadays, and I have firsthand experience of this because they taught us the gender stuff in high school and even went as far to say that there are like 9 genders or more, and I called cap on that because I knew there were only 2. So it wasn’t just trans stuff, it was literally making up stuff that makes no sense and doesn’t exist. Like it’s one thing to change your gender to the other one like that’s fine if that’s what you’d like to do and it works for you, but this grown woman came and lectured us 14 year olds on literally creating stuff that makes no sense at all and has no basis in reality and tried to force us to believe it and I had to like make sure not to fall for it especially at that young impressionable age and my parents were NOT happy with the school when they found out about it. Well a LOT of parents weren’t and with a good reason too.
As for minors being able to transition, the risks are that the side effects can be worse, and also there are some girls that think they’re FTM trans because they’re confused in puberty, but they end up growing up and being fine with being women, so if they get caught up in the trans stuff, they might take testosterone and regret it later
Obviously you’re not one of them and you’re legit trans, but I’m just saying that there is that risk
Also, I would say that if any child godforbid unfortunately wants to do something that could result in serious injury or possibly being not alive anymore, the best thing to do is to go to therapy or a psychiatrist, address the root cause of the issue, the depression, potential trauma, etc, and then if those are all ruled out and taken care of and you simply just are trans and have gender dysphoria and you’re unable to overcome it by being able to live into alignment fulfillingly with the way that you were born and you’re legit trans fr and it’s the only option left, then, once you’re ready and old enough, which you should be by then, you can transition, and you wouldn’t want to end it anyways if you go through the treatment for that and depression
So like if you received the proper psychological help and support, you could’ve gone through your teen years being able to live and stay alive and well without attempting even Pre-T. That’s all I’m trying to get at here I definitely do NOT want kids to end their lives that’s horrible.
I just see the more methodical approach to it rather than just simply going on hormones especially when you’re already mentally unstable and it’s possible that SOME people going through that have underlying issues that may be causing those thoughts, and I have seen cases of it before
Oh and also there was a gay boy that was feminine and the doctors thought he was trans and said he would want ro end it if he didn’t go on the hormones, but the hormones actually made it worse for him, so it’s also a problem when doctors use examples like what you went through to try and fear monger kids that aren’t actually trans into it, and obviously they don’t all do that, but I’m saying like some of them do. Oh and the LGBTQ hotline hung up on him btw when he said he didn’t like the hormones
You are arguing with points I never made, and you are incredibly ignorant to assume I was not in therapy & seeing a psychiatrist. In fact, they misdiagnosed me and gave me medicine that harmed me in the long run (I am pro medication, but they were very reckless and gave me a kind I didn’t need, which had permanent side effects even after I stopped it). I WISH that being in therapy or seeing a psychiatrist was all it takes to stop children in acute distress from attempting suicide, but you are sadly mistaken, it is not a magical cure-all. All I am saying is that if a child is authentically experiencing gender dysphoria, and if they are describing that, BELIEVE THEM. Transition has been shown time and time again to be the best way to ease the distress of gender dysphoria.

My older gay friends did come out and they remember everything and most of them are normal gay and don’t absolutely hate the president. Some voted for him and some didn’t, but they don’t HATE him

It might’ve also been my fault a little because basically Emma interviewed me and I kind of just used like the whole phone call to vent about like this ONE guy who I had some bad experiences with, so I forgot to tell her that it was just one guy and I still have other gay friends, mainly older, that have never been mean to me, and also best friends in general
Also I worked it out with that guy and despite our differences, we can still get alone well now and I straightened him out not to bully me anymore especially when yk he’s way older than me and it was like manipulation and borderline grooming.
I just like older men, so that’s why I usually date up in age a lot, but I learned how to do it better where I don’t get taken advantage of
