Mamdani seems to be a really good person. Let’s hope the system doesn’t chew him up the way it has already done with so many other good people.

I'm glad Mamdani won, not just because of his issues surrounding "affordability" but because he championed the marginalised groups too. He really will not leave anybody behind. His human approach to life in bigoted, racist America struck a deep chord in the Americans who had been invisible to most people in politics. They have been told all their lives that they can live the "American Dream" and they knew it was bullshit. To have someone categorically come out and say 'you are also important' to the marginalised parts of American society was taken as an authentic truth. He is going to have a hard slog ahead but he's smart and focused on delivering on his promises. I know New Yorkers will help him achieve those goals for themselves too. Change happening in one of the most immigrant concentrated cities in the US is a bigger win than the world even realises. From NY the fever will spread. Other States will insist on the same kind of leaders. It has started and nobody can stop it because it's way overdue. I'm and old woman in the UK and have lived in the US and in Canada before I retired and came back to my roots lol, feel that this is seismic not just another kick at the cat, so to speak (I like cats) lol. I will be watching closely. donnie little dick has already jumped on the bandwagon pretending that he knows what "affordability" is lol. The GOP are going to be dumping this bloated toad in droves. His cult membership will be in the toilet because they all have to now adjust to the new reality. Maybe his hardcore MAGA will remain. So he'll make a few bucks offering them tours of the Florida "White House", the UAE will dump him and his crypto scam, there's going to be a shift of the world order after this. Mamdani you didn't only win the New York mayor title you've altered global politics. Keep smiling sweetheart! Also I'm happy because my dad was a white man from England who married an East Indian woman in Calcutta. They had 7 kids in 5 different countries, because we were army brats and were married and still in love for 60 years. My mum died first then a few years later my dad at age 89.
