Our Republishing Guidelines
Our stories may be republished online or in print under Creative Commons license CC BY-NC-ND 4.0. We ask that you edit only for style or to shorten, provide proper attribution, and link to our website. Here’s what you need to know:
1. You must give us credit, ideally in this format:
By: [Insert name of reporters]
2. If you publish online, you must include the links from the story, and a link to our site at the top of the article with a note that says:
“This story was originally published in Uncloseted Media, an LGBTQ focused investigative news outlet.” Hyperlink the story link overtop “This story” and hyperlink UnclosetedMedia.com over “in Uncloseted Media.”
3. It's fine to change the story to suit your in-house style (for example, using "Capitola, Calif." instead of "Capitola.") You may also change language to reflect publishing times (for example, changing “this week” to “last week” or “last month.”)
4. You can publish our photos and graphics with the stories with which they originally appeared. Please keep the captions identical.
5. Be sure to tag Uncloseted Media when sharing our stories on your social channels. You can find us on Bluesky, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
If you share on Instagram or Facebook, invite us as a collaborator @UnclosetedMedia.
6. Though not necessary, we would love it if you could include “Subscribe to Uncloseted Media” at the end of the article and hyperlink to Uncloseted Media one more time.
7. Don't sell the story.
8. Don't sell ads against the story. Feel free, however, to publish it on a page surrounded by ads you've already sold.
