The nonprofit model for journalism really does change incentives in crucial ways. When clicks become the only metric, everything flattens into engagement bait where nuance dies. I've seen this happen where reporters know the full story but only publish the version that maximizes ourtage because that's what algoritms reward. The kids at the center of stories like this deserve better than being turned into content fodder.
